Heinz Beck was born in Friedrichshafen (Germany) in 1963. He obtained his chef qualification in 1983 at the Berufschule Passau, became “Kitchen Master” in 1992 at the Hotelschool Altoetting in Alzgern, and earned his three-level sommelier diploma between 1996 and 1998 from the Italian Sommelier Association.
Starting in 1980, he has worked in leading restaurants in Germany and Spain, such as the Harlekin (Berlin) and the Esplanade Grand Hotel, until October 1994, when he became Executive Chef at “La Pergola”, the gourmet restaurant of the Cavalieri Hilton hotel in Rome, being quickly recognized as the culinary genius in charge of the best restaurant in Italy’s capital city.
The restaurant earned 2 Michelin stars in 2001 and 3 stars in 2006; in the meantime, it was chosen as Best Italian Restaurant by the 2004 BMW Guide. Among his many awards, in 2000 he received the gold medal of the “Foyer des Artistes” by the Rome University “La Sapienza”,  having been assigned to a chef for the first time in 30 years.
